pornography and negative effects : Adverse effects of pornography Introduction In the five sources, the primary effect is assumed to be a negative impact on women. There exists much research on the positive and negative effects pornography causes top men, women, and couples. In most of the research, half the respondents thought that viewing pornography has positive effects to couples. In many dimensions, pornography is attributable to making people more open-minded about sex and enhances a positive quality on increased tolerance on other people sexualities. Among the sources used, some have indicated that watching pornography helps people achieve the satisfaction they want to derive in sex and attain information and educational insight. However, porn poses a problem that affects both the personal well-being and the cultural being of a people. In the modern days, porn surrounds all people in many arrays. Porn is not just watched by the sexually deprived, but also healthy individuals and couples are engaging in watching. Many platforms are attributable to the greater rise in porn watching activities among many individuals. Even so, watching porn is not an attribute of high cases of rape. Rather, porn is turning men off women. The discoveries of self-methods of sexual satisfaction are serious attributes of breaking the relationships that exist between men and women. The generation of internet has facilitated the disposal of porn at people’s homes making it easy to access and watch. As much as porn is not the main cause of the social evils that exist in the today world, it provides a great portion. Effects of porn The negative effects of porn outdo the positive impacts to men, women, and couples. Pornography has created a lot of impact in most of the industries especially the entertainment industry. It has invaded the media and accelerated to many platforms due to the changing and advancement of technology. Pornography affects people negatively whether they watch it often or not. Porn contributes greatly to social and psychological glitches causing difficulties for couples It is noted that porn affects men in many ways. Categorically, the case of Sarah’s boyfriend indicates that young men who get addicted to watching porn result neglecting their life duties. Such life deities include neglecting their relationship responsibilities and misuse of money by investing a great amount on the purchase of pornography materials. Porn may also lead to isolation of young men from the rest of their kind (Hall 146). For instance, as much as Sarah is described as a real woman with a great figure and an appetite for adventure, her boyfriend waits until she is asleep so that he can isolate himself and watch porn. This affirms the fact that men are visually stimulated by watching porn more than having sex with real women. In some extreme cases of indulgence in porn watching, young men have been found to develop depression. Chrissie is described as a lovely woman who is funny, smart and sexy. She believes that relationships cannot work with young men aged twenties. Her reason is that at these ages, men indulge deeply in porn. As a result they lack the ability to fend for their women as real men. When it comes to sex, they lack the ability to satisfy their ladies to required levels. She recalls when she was tied with masking tape and her boyfriend playing with himself assimilating the moves he had watched in a porn movie. As such, men who are young and indulging in watching porn become controlling and highly introverted. They are bound to have high anxiety levels, narcissistic, and more often they become very curious. It leads to degeneration of low esteem such that these men become weak in personal confidence. The sources indicate that these men are also bound to be depressed, dissociative and easily distractible. It is ironic in that when a person is viewing porn; they derive a certain amount of pleasure that turns against their social and psychological well-being (Hall 148). Chrissie argues that she did not believe that at that time, her boyfriend found her sexy or amusing at all. Viewing porn creates distinct pathways that men will use in their interaction with women. It happens as they fall deeper and deeper into porn watching such that the effects are channeled to the neurons. The exposure produces neuron pathways in Chrissie’s boyfriend such that every moment he is exposed, the pathways expand. Over time, the neural pathways become wider and wider creating a neurological circuit within his body. The course creates a prison for him such that he does not see Chrissie in the right perspective. It denies him the rightful judgment for sexual needs hence, porn becomes the ultimate sexual satisfaction basis. He becomes enslaved to masturbation because porn facilitates self-serving in sex. The sense of sex escapes as the result becomes self-pleasure discontinuing the originality of sex from the mutually reciprocating intimacy (Hall 151). Pornography demeans and objectifies women causing couples to suffer the consequences. Andy, 28 years and in a relationship still logged on to watch porn. He would do it when his girlfriend was away from home He convinced himself that it was just a thrill that is intended to create a bit of fun. He admits to the different categorization of pornography. Porn may be categorized in several manners with accordance to the act. Women become demeaned according to different categories. It occurs from hard-core to soft-core pornography. Soft-core pornography has dire effects on men and how they see women. It creates very negative effects on the perception men will have to women (Hall 151-153). Its main concern is that its ghoulishness teaches men to consider and view women as objects rather than human beings. Andy admits that it facilitates the thought that sex and pleasure are completely divorced from relationships. The above thought creates a typical false impression on facts about relationships and sex. Pornography is inherently a self-centered activity. Andy stipulates that men tend to use women for their own satisfaction hence demeaning and objectifying them. The self-centered attitude has not only affected those who view pornography (Hall 154). The world today is faced with massive consumption of porn such that it has hyper-sexualized the entire human culture. Phil, a 46-year-old writer in New York City admits that the new technology has facilitated him with more time to enjoy watching porn. Porn make a person forget the existence of other people. Children today are born into pornified cultures and in return women are the most affected. The current trends in sexuality categorize women as of sexual needs only by the fact that most cultures are inundating girls and women with the information that their most worthy qualities are their sexual hotness. As such, these acts are lowering the self-esteem of many women and stripes them a sense of themselves (Hall 156). It provides most women with an identity that perpetuate sex and emphasizes sexual slavery demeaning any other attributes of women in the society. Pornography squashes the beauty of real naked woman. As observed, Phil uses his extra time to paste women’s heads to different porn stars. Her wife suffers the imagination of such an act and she totally freaks out when she finds what her husband has been doing in his computer. The history of most humans stipulates that erotic images are bound to be reflections of, celebrations of, or substitutes for real naked women. Phil’s wife is described as a gorgeous woman who is admired by many people and yet even other people fantasize about her but her husband still looks at porn to derive satisfaction in the name of being an artist. She feels inadequate and her self esteem goes down because she thinks she is not good enough. Many women feel an inch of betrayal by pornography since they see it as a transgression (Hall 157). McCarthy argues that when a couple engages in porn viewing, the reality of the real world escapes them. For instance, she mentions that a man will always wonder why her girlfriend cannot allow her to ejaculate on her face just as in porn or why is his girlfriend not into sex with animals. Such kinds of thoughts are found to be eluded and they tarnish the reality in a relationship and as a result, they lead to a breakup. Negativism and breakups in couples Pornography changes the attitude of couples. It creates a communication dilemma between couples. One of the reasons is because it negatively changes the attitude of women towards men. Jennifer Schneider, an M.D. who studied sex interviewed a 35-year-old woman who admitted that watching porn haunted her when she started the habit. The woman says she is in a relationship. After some time she began to get used to watching it but admits that the images changed her view for men. Porn viewers have less egalitarian views. She admits that she began to be an addict which led to her neglecting her relationship responsibilities. She started looking down upon her husband because he could not satisfy her any longer. Jennifer Schneider research indicates that many women who watch porn and are in relationships tend to be more sexist in their attitudes than those who do not watch. Many relationships are breaking because most of the partners who watch porn including women end up not being satisfied or sexually aroused by their partners. This leads to cheating in relationships hence, causing break-ups. The more people watch porn the lesser committed they will be in their relationships. In addition, male porn use ends up predicting inferior sex quality for both men and women (Hall 158, 159). As a result, the spouses do not get attracted to each other hence the quality of their sexual life drops significantly. Jennifer Schneider, discussing the case of the 35-year-old woman states that a more elaborate feature to discuss porn viewing is the reward and punishment theory. As people become more indulged in porn watching, their sexuality will lower significantly because they well always need the stimulation of pornography for sex or orgasm achievement. The couple will suffer a great deal of lost attention and memory of simple things in their union for as long as they continue watching porn (Hall 159). A person may be confronted with a situation of always wanting to use pornography in order to stimulate positive thoughts. Porn enhances male violence to women. Men who watch porn incline to be more physically punitive towards women (Hall 160). The most dangerous outcome of porn to couples is that if one partner engages in viewing, the sexuality will drop meaning the partner will not fill interested in engaging in sex. Some partners will be very upset when they discover that their partners are involved in porn viewing. They end up judging the situation as infidelity and betrayal to the relationship. Any physical activities or commitments beyond the normal engagements in the relationship will cause the receiving partner to lose faith on the other partner as an attribute of porn viewing. This will lead to a distanced emotional closeness or faded sensitive touch between the couples (Hall 162). Conclusion There exists much research on the positive and negative effects pornography causes top men, women, and couples. In most of the research, half the respondents thought that viewing pornography has positive effects to couples. The generation of internet has facilitated the disposal of porn at people’s homes making it easy to access and watch. As much as porn is not the main purpose of the social evils that exist in the today world, it contributes a great portion. It drives people to face relationship breakups, violence, and sexual pressures. It has also contributed greatly to the body image problems for women and sexual addictions. Pornography changes the position of couples. It creates a communication dilemma between couples. Women become demeaned according to different categories.
