Western Industrialization and Imperialism Industrialization is the process whereby s cease from relying on agriculture to investing in industrial, for instance, manufacturing products (Grivoyannis, 2012). Conversely, imperialism encompasses a situation where strong states dictate the weaker ones in terms of fiscal, political or cultural activities but via mere influence. Industrialization in the western states significantly yielded to the imperialism of others because compared to them had much stronger fiscal bases.

This was due to the immense development that came along with industrialization that gave these states extra muscles to surmount others. Because of industrialization, the western managed to acquire even more validation to extend their imperialism motives to other states, which were weaker than they were. They were in a position to offer advanced health care and education which in turn they used as an excuse to take over other states which were not as industrialized as they were (Wake field university, n.d). The West was also experiencing the need to extend its market for their excess production due to industrial intensification that produced more than its population could use.

This further encouraged them to colonizing other states to ensure market for their extensive production as well as obtain raw materials. Infrastructural progress was also evident due to industrial revolution (Shillington, 2013). This meant that the western states were in a position to access other regions that had not experienced industrialization. Hence, gave them immense influence over them leading to colonization. The West saw other regions as a source of raw materials for their continuously expanding industries (Shillington, 2013).

Because of this, the western states colonized these states so that they could freely gain access to these raw materials without any hindrances. Less civilized especially Africa and Asia regions during then was green market for investment as well as cheap unswerving labor (Shillington, 2013). This significantly influenced the then colonial activities by the West to advance respective economical benefits. Other than the economic reasons that were because of industrialization, Shillington (2013) asserts there were aspects like need for international power and security.

Because of industrialization, these states were in a position to acquire better machinery and weapons. This sequentially made them feel superior thus had to colonize (Luscombe, 2012). One of the main reasons that made the European armies conquer the native resistance so effectively was the fact that they had strong communication gadgets and power full weapons (Luscombe, 20 12). This was due to technological progress they enjoyed and this way the Non-European states could not match up to them (Luscombe, 2012).

Even though these states wanted to resist their conquest, they were not equipped as they were in terms of technology and hence they could not defeat them. The maritime experience the western states had on the other hand gave them a competitive edge of others. They had control over the sea and therefore they were able to handle all the resistance they encountered (Luscombe, 2012). Industrialization is without a doubt the main motive for imperialism by the West to others. The development due to industrialization made the West feel superior to the extent of wielding their influence on other states, which were then seem not to have experienced revolution.

Hence, manage to ensure regions where they could sell as well as obtain materials meant for their plants at home. References (n.d). The West in the Age of Industrialization and Imperialism.
