In terms of business and Bluetooth technology, the implementation of the Bluetooth technology allows us to create automatic, wireless and cheap means to connect business management and handling devices. The Bluetooth technology in business information system uses a weak signal so that it doesn't interfere by means of cell phone signal or additional signals. This technology is identical to the radio signal technology. The Bluetooth technology can be utilized to transfer data between different sections at Business Information System. The current status of the technology Bluetoot has hold every corner of society resorting overwhelming trend since Ericsson proposed the new technology—Bluetooth in 1998. The development of Bluetooth is improved rapidly in recent years. As a new short distance wireless transmission technology, Bluetooth has been paid close attention to the fields of science, industry and entertainment. Bluetooth service utilizes radio waves to transfer data that’s mean distances between each Bluetooth devices has to in short distance. Other weakness point about Bluetooth is the security; because of the underlying communication medium is open system to everyone. In these cases this technology is not effectively operational. It is suitable for only office based communications and data handling. High level business and technical description Bluetooth technology According to Flint, Karvinen, McKnight, & Tee (2008) the Bluetooth is a new and modern type of technology in the telecommunications sector. This new technology allows connecting wirelessly to the computers, mobile phones and personal digital assistants or PDAs. This wireless connection allows easily interconnection by a short-range wireless link. In this way we can transfer data within short distance with high data rate. By means of this technology, users of wireless technology, cellular phones, PDAs can purchase a 3in1 mobile phone that is able to offer facility of portability at the office or home. It also presents the capability to obtain rapidly synchronized information in a notebook or desktop computer. At the present, this technology implementation at business sector facilitates in sending or receiving a fax, virtual business meeting, working collaboration, initiate a print-out and also the facility of the fixed computer devices complete coordinated. Examples of these devices consist of desktop computers, handheld computers, PDAs, smart phones, notebook computers, handsets, microphones, digital cameras, fax machines, and printers. WiFi is a wireless computer networking standard that allows computers to be connected within 300 meters of an access point. An extension to WiFi is WiMAX. It is faster and has a greater range; however its cost is high. And as the main competitor, the transmission distance of IRDA is the shortest, however its low cost will make it up. At one time it has become one of the most fast-developed, rapid-prevalent, popular, hot wireless transmission technologies. However, with the development of the multimedia network technology and the widespread usage of the multimedia terminal, the need of accessing any multimedia at anytime and anywhere are impending. People find IRDA cannot satisfy them in some respects. For example, IRDA must aim the target when using and it just prove one on one date transmission, the anti-jamming ability is weak, meanwhile the security architecture and security measures was indeed imperfect. By contrast, setting aside the defect of low transmission, there are a number of perceived benefits to Bluetooth becoming a new short distance wireless transmission technology alternative to IRDA. The coverage area of Bluetooth has increased to 10 meters; the transmission signal power is higher, people can signed and encrypted their messages and data when using Bluetooth. Bluetooth will try to develop its products more and more efficient in the years to come. Bluetooth has been used by more and more global technology leader such as Nokia, TOSHIBA, and Intel. Now more and more companies start to deploy that technology in their products, we can even find in auto manufacturers like Toyota, Mercedes-Benz... Current status of the technology Bluetooth has hold every corner of society resorting overwhelming trend since Ericsson proposed the new technology—Bluetooth in 1998. Combining calculation and communication together perfectly, and resorting its trait—small volume, low consume, conveniently integrating in almost any digital equipment, it has been widely used in learning, working, and living of many people. The development of Bluetooth is improved rapidly in recent years. As a new short distance wireless transmission technology, Bluetooth has been paid close attention to the fields of science, industry and entertainment. Even a worldwide organization “Bluetooth SIG” was established. The uniform, standard and open system that they use can be helpful to the development, popularization and application of Bluetooth. The initial aim of Bluetooth is to realize the replacement of cable and to merge the communication and computer technology. It can provide multiple data and information transfer rates, multiple packet types, low power operation and support for secure communications. Although people doubts about the Bluetooth technology when it was introduced, Bluetooth has achieved popular self-identify through ten years development, its applied range has become wider and wider. Bluetooth’ frequency channel is the global 2.4GHZ band carrier. It has been applied to different field with growth potential. Such as: Wireless device: PDA, mobile phone, cordless telephone Image processing equipment: camera, printer, scanner Security products: smart card, identity authentication system, security check Entertainment: earphone, mp3, games Automobile product: GPS, APS, power system, safety air bag Household electric appliance: television, fridge, microwave oven, audio, video recorders Medical health care, Architecture, Toy fields Bluetooth’s rapid growth make no one has questioned its vitality, Even the president of Ericsson say that although the economical environment is poor, Bluetooth is one of the products that can keep developing. Although the market profile of Bluetooth is good, there are some problems in its application and development. Bluetooth has received great attention around the world, however its recognition from the customers is not enough yet. Paul Marino, the business circuit connection apartment manager of Philips says: “Bluetooth industry did not express to the consumers what value it will bring them clearly.” Consumers just want to use the feasible wireless technology; they do not care the type of the technology. A large study of 11 Europe countries consumers has found that 69% of the respondents do not have plan for using Bluetooth, meanwhile there are 42% of them are using Wi-Fi. Bluetooth device sales are keeping increasing, however the customers will faced with many difficulties after they buy the product. For example, most users may use lots of time study the menu, install the device and set up the protocol Then they can connect the Bluetooth system. This is inconvenient in the extreme. Bluetooth industry is going to try to solve the defect, SONY lead the world in this respect, their Bluetooth application technology can set up fast connection in their product; the Bluetooth efficiency is greatly raised. However this is just limited in the SONY products, people still need to pursue the study to make it entered in general use. Of course, Bluetooth is a developing technology; it needs to improve in many respects to accommodate to the competitive wireless market. Increase the image and recognition of Bluetooth to make more customers accept it. Simplified the working process make it easy to operate Make more operate system to support Bluetooth technology. Make the Bluetooth device chips smaller and reduce the price. Supports the roaming functions, then the users do not need to disconnect the current PAN if they want to switch among different access points. High expectations and demands are placed on new technology when it just comes out. Although the current situation of Blue tooth is not perfect, through the industry’s corporate effect it will have a boundless prospect. Business context where this technology might be most suitable Bluetooth is an open wireless protocol using radio waves to exchange data in a short distance. Based on these characteristics, some advantages have been identified. Bluetooth technology is a low energy cost technology and easy to be integrated with traditional technology. This technology is an open and globally viable radio technology that only used in small devices with very low battery capacity, with this technology; it can help customers implement many activities such as sports, games and entertainments. An example of using Bluetooth technology is Nokia’s Wibree, according to “the new wireless frontier (n.d.)”, “In June 2007, the Bluetooth SIG announced it would bring Nokia’s Wibree under the Bluetooth umbrella to create an ultra-low-power version of Bluetooth wireless technology. The result: a wireless technology with the same low power consumption and tremendous battery life as ZigBee, but able to communicate with the hundreds of millions of Bluetooth devices being shipped each year”. Bluetooth technology is a fast speed technology. According to “BLUETOOTH TECHNOLOGY GETS FASTER WITH BLUETOOTH 3.0(2009)”, this technology is version 3.0 with a very high speed downloading; it fulfills the customers need and provides many kinds of download to customers. “Bluetooth 3.0 gets its speed from the 802.11 radio protocol. The inclusion of the 802.11 Protocol Adaptation Layer (PAL) provides increased throughput of data transfers at the approximate rate of 24 Mbps”, this is actually a very faster speed which can download a movie within an hour. Nowadays, the technology applied that commonly used is computers and Mobil phones. With the help of this technology, we can use Bluetooth to connect between different types of mobile devices. It is funny when the two devices connected, Bluetooth pairing when two devices agree to connect and each device has to enter a pin number to show which two need to be connected, a pin number is usually some digitals shared by both devices, after entering the pin number, the two devices can “talk” straight away. Last but not least, Bluetooth technology is a very cheap technology, it has a low manufacturing cost, and these benefits then passed on us, making the device much cheaper. Implementation issues Risks and possible problems: Security is a big threat to Bluetooth technology, according to “Bluetooth security”, “the most significant risk in the wireless technology is that the underlying communication medium is open to everybody, including authentic users as well as the intruders. Bluetooth used short-range radio which is very vulnerable”. For example, others can connect your PC with Bluetooth and get access, then they can see everything in your PC; if they connected to your phone, then a big disaster is coming. Another problem is different version, the technology has to agree on the same version we use, it means version 1.0, 2.0 or 3.0. If the version is different, it is incompatible, we cannot connect to each other. Therefore, we have to make sure that we use the same version of technology in order to link to each other. This sometimes brings trouble when transferring data, if the two devices are different versions, most of the time they cannot connected, if they can, it will bring wrong data and damage to the devices sometimes. Training required: As we have mentioned, Bluetooth technology is easy to use and it does not require any training because most of things are done automatically for the users, it is very easy to implement.
