Macro & Micro economics Response Paper [Teacher 25th May QUESTION Which article did you choose to write about? Include the year, author’s name, and article title. (Note that your answer to this question actually does count towards your grade on this assignment.)Answer: I have selected “Evidence of Surplus Production in the Cherokee Nation Prior to Removal” article by David M. Wishart. This article focuses on Cherokee nation and their style of living. It is a Native American tribe indigenous to the Southeastern United States.

North Caroline and Oklahoma states have significant population of Cherokee community people (David M. Wishart, 1995).QUESTION 2Concisely describe the viewpoint that the author is responding to with this article.Answer: The author is trying to touch multiple viewpoints. He wrote that the advocates of removal of Eastern Cherokee argue that the economic and social progress of Eastern Cherokee is so slow that they must be removed from the mainland and whites must not have any kind of contact with them.

The writer also sheds light on the fact that Eastern Cherokee community is not only self-sufficient but also they are producing surplus goods to be sold in other markets (David M. Wishart, 1995).QUESTION 3Summarize the reasoning and/or evidence that have been offered to support this viewpoint.Answer: The author has used different ways of rezoning and evidence. For example, he has discussed the issue of removal of Eastern Cherokees who are predominantly farmers and producing surplus. The author has provided many tables in this paper that present statistical data that supports the fact that these people are producing surplus.

QUESTION 4According to the author, what is the most important problem with this viewpoint?Answer: To some extent, the writer believes that the demand of white people to sideline Eastern Cherokee community is not valid. These people still follow their tribal norms that passed on from hundreds of years. These people are socially and economically lag behind the mainland United States people. Due to these reasons many white nationalist people demanded that Eastern Cherokee people must not be able to participate in market economy system of the United States because they will make the nation’s economic determinants and statistics bad.

QUESTION 5What viewpoint does the author argue for instead?Answer: The writer is of the view that Cherokee people must be regulated instead of mere sidelining them which is not good and against the laws (David M. Wishart, 1995). QUESTION 6What reasoning or evidence does the author provide to support his or her own viewpoint?Answer: The author has provided many tables in this paper that present statistical data that supports the fact that these people are producing surplus. QUESTION 7What further evidence, if discovered, might strengthen the author’s argument?

Answer: The author has presented the excerpts from other research studies on similar topics which strengthen the arguments of the writer. QUESTION 8What further evidence, if discovered, might weaken the author’s argument?Answer: The arguments of the supporter of removal of Cherokee people weaken the arguments of this author.
